Cody is a big, goofy teenager in an adult dog’s body, and after a few months of decompression, he has absolutely blossomed. With the cutest freckles, endless curiosity, and plenty of energy, Cody is a hilarious, affectionate boy who is discovering how wonderful life can be.

His favorite things are his people, kisses, treats, wrestling, and tug-of-war! He plays hard, but one of the coolest things about Cody is that when his person says playtime is over, he listens. He may keep chewing the rope, but the wrestling and tugging stop. He loves his foster dog brother, Zebby, too, although Cody’s enthusiasm can sometimes be a little much for his more laid back buddy. And if Zebby is getting attention, Cody will happily squeeze himself right into the middle of it!

Cody has made incredible progress with everyday life. He walks well on leash, takes treats gently, has excellent house manners, and loves his kennel—often choosing it over the couch. He gets into the car for rides even though he’s still nervous about them, and he allows his foster family to pick him up and put on his harness with a little encouragement. He’s learning that new things aren’t so scary when you can trust your people.

Cody has also done well around his foster family’s grandchildren, but his foster family continues to use appropriate management and keeps him kenneled much of the time when they visit.

Most importantly, Cody has learned what love and trust feel like. ❤️ He is a happy house dog who knows the rules and loves being part of a family. We are so grateful that the rest of Cody’s life will be filled with the safety, patience, and love he deserves.

Cody needs a family willing to continue helping him build confidence and mature. In return, they’ll get a goofy, playful, affectionate, loyal companion who is truly a very good boy. 🐶💙
